Haven Hour Participants are Ready for 40 Winks
Haven Hour is an virtual gathering we hold on the last Monday of every month, sometimes we have guest speakers! BIG thank you to Dr. Sue McCabe from SleepLinks Occupational Therapy.
To kick off our very first Haven Hour, we were thrilled to have the incredible Dr. Sue McCabe, an experienced occupational therapist specialising in sleep, share a presentation on promoting good sleep habits. Dr. McCabe, with around 20 years of experience in the field of sleep, has even presented internationally to clinicians.
Haven Hour is an online community where people come together with a shared goal of improving their lifestyle, routines, overall well-being, and mental health. Today's session had 6 participants, and here are some key takeaways from Dr. McCabe's presentation:
Sleep is crucial; it impacts our thinking, memory, physical health, mood, mental health, well-being, relationships, and participation in everyday activities
We all have different body clocks influencing our sleep, rest, and activity rhythms.
Morning bright light is essential for producing melatonin, a key hormone for sleep.
Many factors can make a difference to our sleep, including activities and routines, our health, thermal comfort, sensory comfort, and position and movement.
Did you know that keeping your feet warm can help you fall asleep faster?
Haven Hour participant Tracey described Dr. McCabe’s presentation as “sleep for the sleepless made easy.”
Looking ahead, Haven Hour occurs on the last Monday of every month, with the next session set for 26 February 2024. Facilitated by Haven’s occupational therapist, it's a chance for people to connect, share similar experiences, and work towards achieving their 2024 goals together.
